A Bigger Celebration” album coming out 9/17/13!

Hey everyone.  I hope you are all doing well.

I have a whole bunch of gigantic announcements to make.

This September (September 17, to be exact), I’ll release my new album A Bigger Celebration, which features Jerry Bergonzi on tenor sax, Bruce Gertz on bass, Richie Barshay on drums, and special guest Mark Zaleski on alto and soprano saxes!  And there’s going to be a CD release tour afterward as well (see below).  Pre-orders for A Bigger Celebration start September 1 on my website.  And the lead single/title track is now on iTunes.

A Bigger Celebration is my tenth album as a leader.  It’s a fun and upbeat jazz album with a couple of pop-influenced tunes.  Some of the songs’ titles include “A Fast Car In Summer” and “Power Pop.”   A Bigger Celebration is also the first album on which I play electronic keyboards (on two tunes).  And there are some epic multi-part compositions.

I’ll keep you posted with updates about the album on my newly updated website:  www.savagerecords.com

You can view my new YouTube trailer for the album right HERE.

And I hope you can come to any of my four official CD release concerts this fall:

I’ll also be performing at Boston’s Berklee BeanTown Jazz Festival on September 28 with the legendary Bobby Watson!  More info HERE.

Lots of other things have also been happening this year.  I celebrated my 21st birthday in Boston and New York with friends, and recorded my first two full-length albums as a sideman.  These recordings will be the debut albums of Russian sax virtuosos (and Berklee alums) Dmitry Semenov and Anton Petrishchevskiy.  I can’t reveal anything just yet, but I can say that these musicians are amazing!

And finally… this fall (2013), I will begin graduate studies at the prestigious Manhattan School of Music; in two years, I’ll be a Master of Music in Jazz Piano.  The next chapter of my life is in New York City, one of the greatest cities in the world for jazz.

I’ll let you know more details about all of these things soon!

Hope to see you in the fall,

Matt
