Birdland

May 9, 2005

What better way could there be to celebrate your 13th birthday than to perform a “Birthday Celebration Concert” at the famed Birdland Jazz Club in Manhattan? Matt couldn’t think of a better way…

On Monday, May 9th, three days before his “actual” birthday, Matt and his Trio performed at Birdland. As usual, the crowd was enthusiastic and ready to be entertained. And as usual, the trio didn’t disappoint.

All the guys in the band love performing at Birdland, because the venue is terrific. But even more important, from an artist’s point of view, the management and staff there are wonderful. They are caring and supportive and attentive to both the musicians and the customers.

The band played two sets, showcasing several new compositions by Matt. The playlists were:

Set 1

1. El Fuego
2. Hide and Seek
3. Dreaming of You
4. Infected with Hemiola
5. Flights of Fancy
6. Grandpa’s Ramble
7. The Wild Rose
8. Seven Up

Set 2

1. Stop and Go
2. Plain Old Rhythm Changes
3. Couch Potato Blues
4. Wobble Waltz
5. The New Sensation
6. Serenity
7. Reincarnation of a Lovebird

Encore:

Wow!

The band will be back at Birdland again in the not-too-distant future…
