Steve Silverstein Biography

Steve Silverstein, the drummer in The Matt Savage Trio, has a B.A. from UMass-Amherst and an M.B.A. from Babson College. He began drum studies at the age of 8 and studied privately at The Berklee College of Music in Boston, MA from the age of 13-15 with Keith Copeland. He performed in ensembles led by Max Roach and Archie Shepp at UMass-Amherst. Steve was a drumset instructor in the Jazz Dept. at the University of North Florida, Jacksonville from 1992-1998. He has performed in the U.S. and abroad with Carmen Bradford, Harry Allen, Bunky Green, Marcus Printup, Joshua Breakstone,
The Phil Morrison Trio and Lincoln Center Jazz Orchestra members Wynton Marsalis, Ted Nash, Wes Anderson and Ron Westray.
