(ARI)
The Autism Research Institute (ARI) is a non-profit organization, established in 1967, which conducts and facilitates research on the cause and treatment of autism. ARI provides information to parents and professionals worldwide, on request. Dr. Bernard Rimland of ARI did the first pioneering work on the use of dietary supplements and autism in the 60's. ARI also created the Defeat Autism Now (DAN) protocol which is a program of clinical testing, dietary intervention and medications that was critical to improving Matthew's health and behavior. We highly recommend looking into this series of treatments if you have a child with autism. The ARI site has a list of DAN practitioners from around the country. Cure Autism Now is an organization of parents, physicians and researchers and is the largest private fundraising organization for autism research. The Georgiana Institute's mission is to educate the public worldwide about the benefits of Auditory Integration Training (AIT), an intensive language and hearing therapy which addresses impairments in auditory discrimination or abnormal auditory perception associated with disorders characterized by problems with sensory integration. You can read their FAQ about AIT or search for an AIT practitioner in your area. EARS offers Auditory Integration Therapy and is located in Lowell, Mass. EARS was established by Sharda Ramlackhan who is certified in AIT therapy. Sharda's AIT treatment of Matthew was very successful. Kirkman Laboratories makes nutritional supplements that can benefit autistic individuals. They provide SuperNu Thera, DMG and many other specialized supplements for implementing the DAN protocol and other dietary interventions.
